Okoroire Hot Springs Hotel
I absolutely fell in love with this historic inn! The grounds with stately trees, and dreamy, unadulterated hot springs (open 24/7) were much to my liking. My excellent surf and turf dinner consisting of a sirloin steak, prawns and mussels would have been two or even three times as expensive in a fancy restaurant and my complementary breakfast had a wide choice of tasty pastries. The free hot springs, complementary breakfast and reasonably priced on site dinner venue made this hotel a hidden gem, would have easily been triple this in USA. This place was an excellent complement to our Hobbiton tour, 20 minute drive away. Stay here, this inn deserves to be preserved!

We enjoyed the unique character of this hotel with it’s past history and and charmingly antique appeal. There is a feeling of faded glory, and the impression that there is a need for lots of revamping but we found the whole experience of being there for a few days very enjoyable. The staff were very congenial and the chef was superb!! We loved the meals he produced. It was fun exploring the hot pools, all very rustic but again uniquely historic. We had planned to do the walk to the blue springs but it is closed at the moment but we did enjoy a short drive to Tirau for coffee and an explore of the shops.

We enjoyed the unique historic atmosphere of the hotel which makes it a very special place to visit. The meals were excellent and the staff very genial. The perfect venue for spending time with friends. We stayed in an outside unit for 2x nights and then for our last night moved into the heritage wing which we preferred. The hot pools are rustic and require some decent agility but they are a special experience in themselves

Loved the historic hotel. Beautifully decorated for Christmas too. Our room overlooked the golf course and across to the Kaimai mamaku ranges. Beautiful short bush walk down to the hot pools, which we had all to ourselves. Large bar and restaurant with out door seating. Big breakfast room with lots of breakfast choices. Chair and table on the verandah outside our room was a welcome escape from the noisy bar.

This is a charming old hotel with lots of history and character. The ladies at the restaurant were sweet and friendly and accommodated me with an ice bucket for the room. The dinners at the restaurant were delicious! The mineral pools were awesome- it's a bit of a walk down a lovely path to 3 rustic relaxing hot pools. Take a flashlight if you go down at night!
